There will be “multiple Republicans” in the administration

Citigroup Should Be Held Accountable, Obama Aide Podesta Says
on bloomberg.com

Podesta, a former chief of staff in the Clinton White House, also said Obama would complete “virtually the whole Cabinet” by Christmas, and the new president’s team will reach beyond the Democratic Party.

There will be “multiple Republicans” in the administration,” Podesta said. “You’ll see them spread throughout the administration.”

Sure, there will be lots of Republicans in this administration. What seems to be incredibly rare in this administration is anyone from the left or who might be described as 'progressive'.

Of course, its hard to know when a Clintonista is lying. The main headline in this article involves holding 'Citigroup accountable'. But that I really doubt.

Robert Rubin, who's apparently the economy czar of the Democrats. He served in key roles in the Clinton years. Then he moved to a lucrative job running .... wait for it .... Citigroup.

Rubin's been a key advisor to Obama. And while he's apparently too important these days to do government work directly, most of Obama's economic policy team announced last week are proteges of Rubin.

So, I'm not exactly holding my breath waiting for this new Obama economic team to 'hold Citigroup accountable'.

Unfortunately, the part of this story that is likely to be true is that Obama's idea of 'change' is to keep a big chunk of the government in Republican control.

This is really awful--I'm not kidding..I never thought much of Obama, but, this is ridiculous!! This isnt even a "Democratic" Administration--wait, maybe it is.

NO progressives (lol--not even close!), no liberal Dems, no labor, nothing! This is really going to suck!

If you have the tiniest big of feelings, or fear having people send you pics of dis-membered body parts (??) with a map to and pic of your house---the Obamabots (I guess that is who it is!) are in ful swing on the blogs!

I'm so stupid, I dont even know if I am posting this right...

Just protect yourself, that's all! Some of these people are compltely nuts..no kidding..

Anybody see this? I got it from Distant Oceans...I cant tell you who wrote it--I keep getting "banned", so I assume it is from Common Dreams, or "who's banning me now?" as Colbert might say.

"....Obama followers patiently awaiting instructions
Defending his unbroken string of establishment/hawkish/conservative appointments, the general speaks:

"What we are going to do is combine experience with fresh thinking. But I understand where the vision for change comes from. First and foremost, it comes from me. That's my job -- to provide a vision in terms of where we are going, and to make sure then that my team is implementing."

And a soldier responds, in words that really must be read in their entirety to be appreciated:

Obama is picking people with the toughness and experience to get things done. We should be more supportive of his choices. The way I see it, we (the people who support Obama) are like foot soldiers in a nonviolent war for revolutionary change. Like any good soldier, I must trust my commander. Obama is my commander (in-chief) and I trust him. Okay, so here's the tricky part. In a war, it is not the duty of a foot-soldier to develop the entire strategy for the war, nor is it the duty of a foot soldier to decide what orders to obey and which to disobey. No war could be won by an army governed by anarchy.

In this war, (against radical Right-wing government and social forces) it is up to Obama to craft a winning strategy, not us - the disorganized rabble. When we judge his strategy in a negative light, our criticism is ignorant, because we do not know what his full strategy entails. Keep in mind, it would be foolish, in a state of war, to simply divulge what that strategy is. So we must have faith in Obama and trust him. If we want change (and I know I do) then we must trust him, even when we feel we can't. We must see beyond our fears, and remember that sometimes it is more important to follow than to try to lead. The Left does not need more wannabe leaders and more petty infighting. It's like each of us has a piece of a puzzle, but only Obama can put the pieces together to create an image for our future..."

Terrifying...

I believe in a government of the people, by the people and for the people. That's America.

In America, we don't sit around and wait for a great leader, whether he be Bush or Obama, to tell us what to think and when to act. We organize for ourselves. We fight for ourselves. We organize and fight to take back our government of the people, by the people and for the people.

And whenever someone tells you that you shouldn't do this. That you shouldn't speak out. That you shouldn't organize. Then that person is anti-American. Because America is a democracy. And in a democracy, power comes from the bottom up. And that the people have to be able to read and think and discuss and organize. That's how power is supposed to work in a democracy.
