Clinton --- Screw Democracy.

Hillary Clinton has added her name to the list of Obama administration officials (see also this earlier post)who openly hate democracy and insist that the policies of the US Gov will not be effected by anything so trivial.

Clinton To Congress: Obama Would Ignore Your War Resolutions

The White House would forge ahead with military action in Libya even if Congress passed a resolution constraining the mission, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said during a classified briefing to House members Wednesday afternoon.

and ...

The answer surprised many in the room because Clinton plainly admitted the administration would ignore any and all attempts by Congress to shackle President Obama's power as commander in chief to make military and wartime decisions. In doing so, he would follow a long line of Presidents who have ignored the act since its passage, deeming it an unconstitutional encroachment on executive power.

America is the nation that was founded on the strange notion that what the people want should count, and that we shouldn't have some queen sending us off to war whenever she decides to go kill a fellow tyrant. The idea that a Congress can restrain a King or a Queen is the very core of America. Us peace activists often get attacked as being 'anti-american'. But, this position held by Bush, Cheney, the Clintons, and Obama that no one can restrain their blood lusts is the most fundamentally anti-american, un-american position that anyone could hold. They all hate democracy.

This is of course the Bush/Cheney position from the previous term. Washington politics should come with whiplash warnings. Because, if you take the stated positions of either party too seriously, you'll get whiplash when they change suddenly. In the past, it was Bush stating he had imperial-like power to wage war and that Congress could go get stuffed, while Democrats in Congress whined about the Constitution and war powers. Now that the Democrats have the White House, its the Democrats who claim that they can go kill anyone they want any time they want, and its the Bush Republicans in Congress who are saying this is awful.

Be prepared, the magnetic poles of phony war politics can shift again after any time they roll out the Diebold voting machines. If I live a few years longer, I'll almost certainly get to see this Republican congressperson cheering on yet another Republican war, and claiming then that no one can even question the next Republican in the White House. The key thing to realize, is that none of these people oppose all of these bloody wars when they have the real power to stop them. They only whine about it in fake attempts to con people into voting for them and giving them the power to go kill anyone they want any time they want.

And if you want to see really sick, look at the Democrats in the comments underneath cheering on the death of democracy in America. Probably the exact same people who cursed Bush's imperial presidency. Do they put something in the water that kills memory and the basic ability to think and comprehend any political concept more complicated than "democrats are good, republicans are bad"?
